How to change display settings from laptop to 1080p tv correctly to view web pages.?

Hi again.

I just bought a 42'; 1080p TV and use it as my external monitor. The laptops original display settings was set to 1024X768 and then changed it to 1920x1080. It seems as though some webpages look the correct sizes, but some now just look very minute, almost as though they dont fully fill the screen. a good example of this now facebook or myspace. peoples photos are now smaller and once double clicked to enlarge the photo's they dont view as large as the previous setting. I am very confused as to what setting my computer should be set to. I have went to firefox%26gt;tools%26gt;options%26gt;text size etc, but just some pages are not filling the screen or as large as they once were but once changed back to the original settings they are back to normal.

Any answers would be highly appreciated and thanks to all who answered my previous questions but am now faced with this dilemma. How to change display settings from laptop to 1080p tv correctly to view web pages.?
Of course the webpages are going to look smaller on your HDTV.

Webpages are usually formatted to be displayed on screens no larger than 1024x768. And your HDTV's resolution is 1920x1080, which is 66% more area!

What you can do to take advantage of all that extra display space on your HDTV is to look at TWO webpages side-by-side.

I do that on my 52'; LCD HDTV. :-)How to change display settings from laptop to 1080p tv correctly to view web pages.?
Its because they are smaller.

Thats it, a higher resolution means you stuck the more pixels into a smaller area, conversely you stuck the same amount of pixels into a smaller area. almost everything except text and vector graphics do not adjust for this and have a set pixel amount, and will shrink or enlarge depending on your setting. The picture will have a better resolution though, since you stick its same amount of pixels into a smaller area.

IE has webpage zoom, and Firefox has it built in but not usable yet to the user.
