How do I change my display to a nickname I want?

I have gone to Messenger and My contact details, entered the nickname I want and clicked Save and Close but nothing happens. The window doesnt close and nothing changes. All I am able to do is either click cancel or the X to close the window. Every other field is empty except nickname and I still cant get it to save and close.How do I change my display to a nickname I want?
If you are using Yahoo Messenger 8.1.0.413 , Click on messenger/my contact details/fill in the information you want it to say/save and close, and/or add yourself to your contacts, and go to your name and change it to whatever you want.

Go to:Email/(Mail)options/General Preferences/In the 'From________' and 'Reply to:' sections, CHANGE THE EMAIL NAMES TO ANYTHING YOU WANT IT TO BE/Save.

Beta version = click Options, Mail Options, select Accounts from the side menu, click ';Add or edit an account'; , click the Edit button, In General Preferences window, enter the name you want to appear on your outgoing mails. Click Save.



and/or = Click on ';My Account'; / Public Profiles/ Edit/Create Profile/ Create New Public Profile/ then fill out the info / Make Default on the right hand side of the screen. To delete a name click the blue delete next to the name.

Under “Management”, click Mail Addresses.

In the “Extra Email Address” section, click Get Started.

Either type whatever new address you’d like to try (Yahoo will tell you if it’s already taken), or use one of the suggestions on the right.

Click Choose.

log into answers. then on the left it should say ur name or what you go by. then click on that. go into name and change it to what u want
