How can i change my display name to a nickname on facebook?

I want to change my name to my nickname but it wont let me. how can i change itHow can i change my display name to a nickname on facebook?
Facebook used to have a 'Screen name' function, but, sadly, they took it away.

Now, nicknames are actually forbidden on Facebook. Even if you do manage to change it, if you are spotted by a Facebook admin using a nickname, your acount will get suspended and you will get an email asking for your real name. (This happened to me).

What you can do to get round it is this....

Start a group, the title of which is your nickname. In the info tab in the group say that the group is simply there so that people that know you by your nickname can find you. Provide a link to your profile in the group. This will not affect your privacy settings. If your profile is private, and someone clicks through that isn't a friend, they will not be able to see your profile...only what you have allowed them to see in your settings.

Please start a group and NOT a Fanpage - individual users are not allowed to have fanpages and you could be booted off for that, but, there is no such rule for groups.

Then, if you want to, in your privacy settings, remove yourself from being searchable.

Your profile will still have your real name, but, you will only be searchable by your nickname.How can i change my display name to a nickname on facebook?

Facebook is for keeping in contact with REAL information. It is for REAL information, not nicknames or false info.

You may do as I have done, in the middle name section you can put '; 'YOURNICKNAMEHERE' ';
go to account, account settings, click ';change'; where it says name. and the account tab is in the right hand corner for the new version of fb
