My IM display is still displaying my old avatar. How do I change the display to the new one?

Everytime I try to change it I'm directed to the main avatar page and I still can't change it!My IM display is still displaying my old avatar. How do I change the display to the new one?
There is a little triangle shaped arrow under your picture. If you click on it, a menu will open up. In the list, select ';change display image.'; You should be able to pick from other avatars.My IM display is still displaying my old avatar. How do I change the display to the new one?
